Something tangible like natural cosmetics made from regional ingredients or rather an innovative service – what do you want to start your own business in North Friesland (NF)? Anyone who has recently founded a company, has a concept or even just an initial idea should contact Jan-Christian Mahrt from Wirtschaftsförderung Nordfriesland (WFG NF, photo) by March 31, 2023. He organizes the start-up camp, a building block of the start-up promotion NF. The NF district, the Flensburg Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) and the WFG NF support all those who want to set up their own business in North Friesland. At the end of 2023, a jury will select the three best start-up ideas. They will receive prize money totaling 8,000 euros.
Those who register for the start-up camp can take part in several workshops and networking meetings until the end of the year. Experts provide valuable tips, for example on developing a business plan, financing a business idea or online marketing, and show how to create your own company website and your own Google MyBusiness entry. “Some expert workshops take place as video conferences,” explains Jan-Christian Mahrt. “But we also meet three to four times in person to get to know existing companies and exchange ideas.” WFG NF Managing Director Dr. Matthias Hüppauff adds: “There is often a very inspiring start-up spirit in the group.”

With the regional wedding portal “Heiraten im Norden”, Yvonne Petersen connects relevant service providers and locations. “Hillmann Seminare” advises service providers who want to make their services accessible to people with disabilities, especially in tourism and healthcare. The criteria for the award are sustainability, degree of innovation and regionality.
Irrespective of the start-up camp, start-ups and anyone with an initial business idea are invited to the North Frisian Business Start-up Day on Friday, 31.03.2023from 2 p.m. at the North Frisian Innovation Center NIC in Niebüll (registration: event.wfg-nf.de).
The other components of the NF start-up support program are the business-related development fund and the business plan game at schools. With this fund, the district of Nordfriesland supports start-ups, product developments and market launches in the district with between 1,000 and 7,500 euros per company (applications must be submitted by June 30). The business simulation game is organized by the IHK in cooperation with the Wirtschaftsjunioren. The best ideas will be awarded attractive cash prizes.
