“Sustainability, that’s not so important to me at first”. Many owners of small companies probably still think this way, or something similar. In reality, however, they are already affected by many of the requirements of the European Sustainability Reporting Directive.
This will apply in the foreseeable future, for example, if your small business is part of a supply chain of larger companies that are subject to reporting requirements. Anyone who needs financing, e.g. in the form of a loan, will improve the conditions for granting a loan in future by providing information on the sustainability of their own company. In times of the global climate crisis, it is of course generally sensible to look at where your own company can save resources and avoid negative effects on the environment.
Last but not least, customers and future employees take a look at the sustainability aspects of the companies they want to buy from or work for. Sustainability should not be underestimated as a marketing aspect! These are many good reasons to think about your own sustainability.
But which factors are relevant at all? Where do I start? What measures can I implement directly without having to make large investments right away? It is best to take a look at the so-called ESG aspects. This is an abbreviation that stands for Environment, Social and Governance.
As part of the Grøn project, we have published a brochure that provides an easy-to-understand insight into what falls under the individual ESG aspects and what specific measures each company can take to implement them directly. Clear, precise and practice-oriented, this easy-to-understand 6-page brochure contains everything you need to know to get started. The brochure can be downloaded here. A lot more important information on sustainability for small businesses can be found on the Grøn project website. We wish you every success with your implementation!
